Family’s Plea as British Student Nurse Fatally Stabbed in Texas

AKTAMEDIA.COM, LONDON – The family of a British student nurse who was tragically stabbed to death in Texas just days before her graduation has launched a heartfelt appeal to raise funds for her repatriation and funeral.

Elizabeth Tamilore Odunsi, 23, known affectionately as Tami, was discovered dead in her Houston apartment on 26 April with multiple stab wounds, according to the Houston Police Department. Officers had been called to the South Side complex for a welfare check when they found blood on the patio and later discovered Tami’s body inside.

Another male individual, found at the scene with at least one stab wound, was taken to hospital in critical condition. Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation.

Originally from London, Tami had moved to the United States at just 17 to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. She was in the final weeks of completing her degree at Texas Woman’s University and had planned a holiday to celebrate her upcoming graduation.

Her sister Georgina Odunsi paid tribute to her in a GoFundMe campaign set up to support the family with repatriation and funeral costs. “Tami was a beautiful soul, full of light, ambition, and kindness,” she wrote. “She was brutally murdered just days before she was set to graduate from university—an unimaginable loss at a moment that should have marked the beginning of a bright and promising future.”

The fundraiser has so far raised over £40,000 as of Sunday, with contributions pouring in from across the world.

Tami was also a popular figure on social media, documenting her journey through nursing school on TikTok, where she had amassed over 31,000 followers. Her final post, shared on 21 April, expressed her excitement about being just two weeks away from graduation.

Texas Woman’s University expressed deep sorrow at the loss of one of their own. “She made a tremendous impact on our university community,” a spokesperson said. “Her legacy will continue to inspire us.”

The university is offering counseling services to students affected by Tami’s death.

As her family grieves, they hope to honor her life with the dignity and peace she deserves. “We want to bring her home,” Georgina wrote, “to rest surrounded by love.”
